Web Hosting Control Panel - Getting Started

After your hosting account is set up you will receive a welcome email containing all your account and username details. You will need to store this is in a safe place as it contains important username and passwords to access your account.

There are three main things that need to be done to get your site and email up and running:

You also need to know:

Uploading Your Files to the Server

The first thing you need do is upload your files. If your domain is resolving to our servers you can publish via Frontpage but if not you will need to use an FTP client to connect to our servers and upload your domains content.

If you are publishing via Frontpage, you must wait until the domain is resolving until you attempt to publish. You can not publish via Frontpage to your domain using the IP address. You can however use the IP address to upload your files via FTP.

Once you have successfully uploaded or published your domains content then you can view this at http://IP_Address/domainname. The IP address and the exact URL is specified in the welcome email that we had sent you when your account is setup. If you have lost your welcome email please contact us. Once your domain is resolving to our servers, you can of course view your site at both http://www.yourdomain.com and http://yourdomain.com.

Setting Up Your Email

To set up email mailboxes for your domain you need to login to the the control panel and then click on 'Email Manager'. Once you have created the email mailboxes you will need to configure your email client (e.g. Outlook Express, Outlook, Netscape, Eudora) to download your email.

*Please note you can't check your email until you have transferred your domain as email requires name resolution.

Point Your Domain Name to Your Website

In order to get your domain to point (resolve) to our servers you need to specify our name servers as the authoritative name servers (or DNS servers) for your domain. This involves visiting your domain registrar and changing the name servers associated with your domain to our name servers (removing any existing name servers that may be specified from a previous provider).

For details of our name servers and instructions on how to transfer your domain at common registrars please click here.

Once you have done this it takes up to 72 hours before your site is available as the changes need to propagate to your ISP.

If you have already done this, and you're not sure whether your site is resolving or you are receiving a '403 forbidden' type error, click here.
