The default document must be uploaded to the root directory of your domain and not be placed in a subfolder for it to automatically open when http://www.yourdomain.com is entered into the browser. Note the platform pertains to the platform your website is located on, not the platform your personal computer is running.

PUBLISHING/UPLOADING VIA MICROSOFT FRONTPAGE

Frontpage Extensions are a set of server-side applications that enable you to incorporate the following advanced features without having to write the complex server-side programs typically required:

  • Collaborate simultaneously with other users on the same Web site;
  • Create a Web page directly on a Web server;
  • Save directly to a Web server when using Office programs;
  • Include other FrontPage components on your sites such as link bars, top 10 lists, form handlers, discussions, full text searches, hit counters, and categories.

Do I have Frontpage Extensions installed on my domain?
Every windows domain automatically has Frontpage Extensions installed. We do not support Frontpage Extensions if your domain is hosted on a Linux server.

Frontpage 2002 extensions:
We support all version of Frontpage extensions on all our Windows servers.

SharePoint Team Services for Frontpage 2002:
Currently we do not suppot SharePoint Team Services on our servers and hence any operations requiring these services shall not work.

Connecting to upload your files

Before you connect you must ensure you comply with two things:
a.) You're domain is resolvable to our servers ie. you can access your website by typing in the full yoursite.com domain name;
b.) You own a registered copy of Frontpage. We do not supply this and it is your responsibility to attain a legal copy.

Step 1:
Make sure you are connected to the Internet, and open Frontpage

Step 2:
Click on "File" and then "Open Web" to connect to your domain on the web server. Type in http://www.yourdomain.com. Once you have done this click "Open" in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

Step 3:
You will now be prompted for your username and password via a dialog box. When prompted enter the username and password specified on your welcome email. If this message does not appear it can be for 2 reasons. Either your domain is not resolving, or Frontpage Extensions have been corrupted on your domain. If your domain is resolving and it is not working you will need to contact us for support.

Troubleshooting

Frontpage will create numerous folders upon installation by us or via the control panel. These folders will start with an underscore. If you delete these via FTP you will corrupt your extensions. We recommend if you plan to use Frontpage that you do not use FTP at all.

If you can not connect to Frontpage and your domain is resolving and receive an error message similar to below you will need to contact us for support. There is also an option in the control panel which does a reinstall of Frontpage, however this does not always work, particularly if the issues are permissions related.
